Death warrant for the trees, November 1947

Here's a view of St Julian's Avenue as it is today and below about 80 years ago, when the trees were newly planted. The trees, say the States, have become dangerous and should be felled. But Major R G Davies, secretary of the Guernsey branch of 'Men of the Trees,' says that many experts disagree with that view. His organisation is to resist their 'death-warrant.'

The Library has in its collection another very clear photograph of St Julian's Avenue in 1874, just after its creation. Please ask for further information.
