20 March 1446. Letter under Bailiwick Seal (missing). Found against: John Blondel, Bailiff, Nicolas Fouachin, Nicolas Effart and John Martin, Jurats. Nicolas Queripel [Nicolas Caripel], Thomas Clouet and Bertrand Le Patourel [Bretran Pastorel], in right of their wives, the daughters of Janquin Larchier son of Johan, of St Andrew's parish, in favour of Pierre Priaulx son of Johan of St Peter Port, who, as possessor and buyer of a certain courtil in St Peter Port to the south of the Spring of Vauxlaurens [Fontaine de Vaux Lorens] and to the west of the Courtil Janicot Le Bougre, a path between them ... they must guarantee Pierre Priaulx against the claims of Nicholas Guille Jr. of St Peter Port since Jacques Larchier, their father-in-law, sold the courtil to Pierre Priaulx etc.

Mr Jean Falla son of Michel of St Peter Port testified in person that he had sold to Edward Collings son of Thomas, a native of Jersey and at present living in St Peter Port, a house and garden in Forest Lane [rue Forest], situated to the east of a house and garden belonging to Mr Jean Mauger and to the south and also to the west of gardens belonging to Mr Henry Mauger which previously belonged to the heirs of Sieur Pierre Guille and also to the west of a small garden belonging to the heirs of the late Mr Jean Bonamy ...

We the undersigned ajudicators by virtue of an Act of 28 November and 13 March 1614, for the examination of the accounts [contes?] of Nicolas Le Cornu, guardian of Marie Priaulx daughter of Nicolas and parceners, the said Nicolas eldest son of Pierre Priaulx being seized of a certain courtil and cottages belonging to Jean Girard [Girart] commonly known as Les Fiers Moutons in the parish of St Andrew. At the bidding of Anthony Lee, who is seized by inheritance of the whole estate of the said Girard, we certify that today, the 19 April 1615, we visited the said courtil and cottages, having firstly considered and examined all the enjoyments and contes of the said Le Cornu and having heard statements from several worthy people, in a comprehensive manner. We judge that the said Nicolas Priaulx owes Nicholas Le Cornu six écus and we order him to pay him this sum on pain of the punishment given by law, and to continue thereafter to pay a rent of 15 bushels of wheat rent due on the said estate, i.e. 10 bushels on the heirs of Jean Priaulx son of Pierre and 5 bushels on the heirs of Marie Priaulx sister of the said Pierre; and as we have also been shown an IOU signed by Mr Nicolas Martin dated 28 January 1595, by which the said Jean Girard was obliged to pay the said Le Cornu in his own name the sum of three écus sous in arrears  ... in right of Thomasse Priaulx, sister of the said Pierre and of the said Marie Priaulx, and that the said Le Cornu has confirmed to us that he has received nothing ... and we order that he be paid half of the sum of six écus in addition ot his costs. The said Vidamours confirm that they sold to the said Johan Le Clerc, the large field [courtil] that runs up to the bank that runs along the land of the children of Johan Gallienne on two sides ...

Item. The Plaids d'Heritage of the High Parishes (3 March 1555). Presiding: Pierre Martin, Lieutenant to Bailiff Helier Gosselin, Nicolas Careye, John Le Fevre and Pierre Bonamy, jurats. Johan Le Clerc vs. Thomas Lenfestey in right of his wife Perotine, the daughter of Collas Raulf; retrait of any sale by Collas Vidamour in right of his wife, the daughter of the late Collas Raulff, to the said Johan Le Clerc.

James Le Lacheur son of Jean of the Forest parish, presently residing in St Andrew's parish, confirms having passed by exchange to Jacques Allès son of Guillaume of the Forest parish in right of his wife, daughter of Collas Mauger, the following parcels of land: And firstly. The courtil known as the Courtil Pierre Le Lacheur lying to the north of Collas de la Rue's house and cottage, and running up to the King's Highway with the earth bank between the courtil belonging to the heirs of Anne Guille and the one between the courtil belonging to Collas Le Lacheur. Item. Another courtil called La Croutte au Blanc running up to the King's Highway, lying to the east of the courtil belonging to Thomas Le Lacheur. Item. The little courtil des Croitons, running up to the road, and to the east of the courtil belonging to Collas de la Rue. Item. Another courtil this one called [Courtil] de la Hougue running up to the Rue de la Vechue[?] to the west ... of a courtil belonging to Jean Le Lacheur, all the said land being situate in the parish of the Forest.  And the said Jacques Allès confirms having passed by exchange to James Le Lacheur the title to the following parcels of land: A courtil called the [Courtil] de Derriere [unint.] of the said courtil keeping back one and one half perches of land in width alongside the cottages that once used to belong to Collas Mauger .. the house and cottage that belonged to the said Collas Mauger to the east of the courtils that belong to the heirs of Pierre de Garis to the south of the courtils of the heirs of Jean Davy lying in the parish of St Saviour in the Fief es Guernezes. And to the said James Le Lacheur will use as his abreuveur the spring which used to belong to Collas Mauger.

Collas Vidamour son of Johan in right of Collenette his wife, the daughter of Collas Raulf ... of SPB of the first part and Johan Le Clerc son of Collas of the same parish, of the other part, the said Vidamour stated that he had sold ... to the said Johan Le Clerc ... the large courtil that extends as far as the [sand]bank [banque] that runs on both sides along the property of the children of Johan Gallyenne [Jean Gallienne]. Item. [3 March 1555].At the Plaids d'heritage of the high parishes, in the presence of Pierre Martin, the lieutenant of Helier Gosselin, the Bailiff ... Nicolas Careye and Johan Le Feivre [Jean Le Fevre] and [Pierre?] Bonamy, jurats, Thomas Lanffestey [Thomas Lenfestey] in right of Perotine his wife, the daughter of Collas Raulff, is awarded judgment against Johan Le Clerc [Jean Le Clerc] and awarded the right of retrait against any sale [Le Clerc] has made of that which he had inherited from Collas Vidamour in right of Collenette his wife, daughter of Collas Raulff ...

20 February 1605. Letter under Bailiwick seal.  James Le Lacheur son of Jean of the Forest, presently residing in st Andrew. The said [James Le Lacheur] stated that he had sold by exchange to Jacques Alles [Jacques Allez] son of Guillaume of the Forest in right of Margueritte his wife, the daughter of Collas Mauger, the following pieces of land: First, a courtil called Le Courtil Pierre Le Lacheur to the north of the farmhouse and cottage of Collas de la Rue and abutting the King's Way with the bank between the courtil of Anne Guille and that between the /Courtil of Collas Le Lacheur ... Item. Another courtil called Le Courtil de la Croutte au Blanc running up to the King's Way and lying to the east of the of the Courtil Thomas Le Lacheur. Item. Le Petit Courtil des Crochons, running up to the road, and to the east of the Courtil of Collas de la Rue. Item. Another courtil called [Le Courtil] de la Hougue abutting the rue de la Vechue [sic] [Le Vecheulx] to the west of the Courtil of Jean Le Lacheur: all the said pieces of land being situated in the parish of the Forest.

And the said Jacques Alles stated that he had sold by exchange to James Le Lacheur a courtil called [Le Courtil?] de Derriere [unint.] half a perch of land in width running alongside the cottages that formerly belonged to the said Collas Mauger father of the aforementioned wife [Marguerite] ...the house and cottage that belonged to the said Collas Mauger to the east of the courtil that belong to the heirs of Pierre de Garis [Piers de Guarys] to the south of the courtil of the heirs of Jean Davy [Jean David] situate in the parish of St Saviour in the Fieu es Gerviezes [Fief des Gervaises]. And the said James Le Lacheur will have access to the spring which belonged to Collas Maugeur to use as his abreuvoir. 

25 February 1523. Letter under Bailiwick Seal. James Guille Bailiff. Nicolas Carie [Nicholas Carey] and James Blondel, jurats. Present Collas Rougier son of Michael [Collas Rogier fils Mychiel] of Saint Saviour of the one part, and Piers Du Mares [Pierre Dumaresq], son of Thomas, of the said parish and at present living in England in the town of Poole, of the other part: the said Pierre Dumaresq confirms he sold to Collas Rougier and to Perotine his wife, daughter of Leonard Corbin [Linart Corbin], the whole of his estate in the island of Guernsey ... in right of his father and mother.

17 October 1608. Letter under Bailiwick Seal. Present: Thomas de France son of Pierre de [France] of St Pierre du Bois, who, in right of his wife Collenette daughter of Pierre Simon du Douit of the said parish, confrims he had sold to Collas Lenfestey son of Jean of the said parish, a meadow [pré] called the Courtil du Fontaine in the parish of Torteval, between the house of Thomas Le Huray [Le Hurey] and the house of Thomas Vidamour, the pathway running between them. [Note EC: 17 February 1608: identical contract, which date is correct?]

13 May 1587. Letter under seal of Fief Le Comte. James de Havilland, seneschal, Helier Gosselin and Francois Alles vavasours:  Present: Thomas Gallienne son of Collas of Torteval, who confirms having sold to [Johan] Jean Lenfestey, son of Thomas of St Pierre du Bois all the land belonging to the said Gallienne in a cotil [or courtil] called Le Grand Mondryl in St Pierre du Bois in the Franc Fief de Beuval.

12 March 1503. Letter under Bailiwick Seal. John Martin, Bailiff, Nicolas Effart son of Denys jurats. Present: Pierre de Fosse, son of Thomas of the parish of St Pierre du Bois, currently residing in Torteval, of the one part, and Collas De Garis son of Collas of the parish of St Saviour who is attorney for the assets of Richard Gallienne son of Flocel, of the parish of Torteval and currently residing in the town of Dartmouth in the Kingdom of England [?] as is represented to us by a sealed procuration with the seal of the mayor of the said town, of the other part: the said attorney confirms having sold following instructions from the said Richard son of Flocel Gallienne to the said Pierre de Fosse the houses, cottages, gardens, land and rents that belong to him in the islands of the Bailiwick, for the price of 20 pounds sterling annual rent. Item. The (13 November 1504) before the aforementioned jurats, Johan Ales [Jean Alles] son of Jean of St Andrew confirms owing to Laurent dit Pierre de Fosse in right of his wife Jenette Alain [?] mother of the aforementioned Gallienne ... a rent ... on a courtil lying to the west of the house of the said Jean Alles.

18 April 1593. Letter under Bailiwick Seal. Present: Toussaint Le Marquant [Le Marquand] of Jersey as attorney for Mary and Michelle daughters of Jacques de Carteret of the said island of Jersey. The said Toussaint Le Marquand confirmed having sold  ... of the said Mary and Michelle ... To John Esnouf son of Laurent of the parish of St John in Jersey, 2 bushels of wheat rent, which as attorney for the said women he has assigned to Johan Esnouf to take from the heirs of Raulin Mauger son of Collas of St Peter Port, through which the two said bushels rent are owing to the said Mary and Michielle [Michelle de Carteret] on the house of Raulin Mauger which is situated in Cornet Street in the said parish.

2 November 1586. Letter under Bailiwick seal. Present: Pierre Le Pelley Jr., [legal guardian of?] Guillot Le Pelley Jr., of the Clos du Valle, who testified that he had exchanged [for his pupil] with Helier La Perre, son of Pierre, living in the parish of the Câtel, a pièce of land in the Catel in a terrain called Les Hommets, running up on the northside to Les Maresquets belonging to Collas Lihou in right of his wife Janette La Loe. At the same time the said Helier La Perre testified that he had exchanged with [the?] guardian, the said Pierre Le Pelley, a certain piece of land measuring one vergee in the parish of the Câtel and a territoire called La Hougue du Pommier to the west of the house of Johan Lestournel in right of his wife the daughter of Johan Le Clerck. Both pieces of land are in the Fief de Sausmarez.

Present on this day: James Coquerel son of Nicolas of the parish of Notre Dame du Chastel of the one part, and Thomas Dorey of the parish of St Michel du Valle, without the Clos, of the other part. The said James Coquerel testified that he had sold to the said Thomas Doré a piece of land measuring one and a half vergees situated to the west of the new house of Guillaume Lestournel in the parish of Chatel in the Franc Fief de Saumarez.

Long agreement between Roul Le Coquerel, of the one part, and Johan de la Betthe, otherwise known as Le Picquart in right of his wife Guillemine Rose, and Perrot Nicholas, possessor of the said Guillemine's house, on the other. The house is in the rue Des Couturiers [rue des Cousturyeres] below ... the house that used to belong to Johan Gosse ... the aforesaid Raoul voluntarily testified to having sold ... the house that was fully his and his heirs, to the said Johan de la Betthe, in right of his wife and also to the said Perrot Nicholas, as possessor rentier of the said house, through the sale by the said Picquart, in right of his wife, made to the said Perrot par audience et par prouesse: that is to say, that the said Perrot, as possessor of the said house, or the said Guillemine, her heirs, or whoever may have possession of his house ... duties re the party wall, guttering etc (interesting details)
