Liberation Trail 2025: Aftermath
To help celebrate the 80th anniversary of the liberation of Guernsey from the Nazi Occupation in WWII, the Priaulx Library explores the end and aftermath of the Occupation, with historic images on display in the Library's garden and more material inside the Library itself. How did a ravaged Guernsey get back on its feet? Entry is free and there is parking at the Library for visitors.
From May to June 2025 the Priaulx Library forms part of the Liberation 80 Trail, with photographs in the garden illustrating the aftermath of the Occupation: the re-occupation of the island and its recovery. There is more information in the Library itself, including Occupation newspapers, Red Cross letters to and from the island, and a moving portrait by local artist Olympia McEwan based around Red Cross letters between her mother and stepfather.
