Priaulx Library Photographic Exhibition 2015: How Guernsey used to shop

Our summer exhibitions, which start in our lovely garden and end inside the welcoming Victorian interior of the Library, are always extremely popular, receiving many vistors, both local and from all over the world.
This year's theme is 'Shopping,' and will feature historic photographic images of the island from our collection, with accompanying original documents and other material. The photograph above shows one of the perennial favourites from islanders' childhoods, R J Collins, and their stand advertising their sweet shop and confectionery business at the island Trades and Industries Fair in October 1953. This exhibition is once again sponsored by Ravenscroft Stockbroking and Investment Management.
